Notes for William Henry Witherspoon
Information received from Michael Witherspoon on 8 Jun 1998.
"I heard from my father that Ircel had gotten pregnant from some boy. William Henry Witherspoon Sr. grabbed his gun and went searching for the boy in order to ensure a "shotgun" wedding. He met the boy's father instead and a gunfight ensued. William was killed. Ircel's son, Edward (not Edwayne) was the result. He usally went by his nickname "Bud". It seems he was quite the artist. I have a pencil drawing of his that has been passed to me from my father."
William Henry brought his family from Gibson Co., IN, to Monroe Co., Arkansas about 1906.
