Notes for Johann Nicholas Teel
Information comes from family researcher, Nancy Teel Miller .
I am descended from William P. and Nancy GUDGEL TEEL. I have added a lot of
Elizabeth TEEL WITHERSPOON descendants to my PAF program from your data on the web, and there
is only about one line that I have that you don't seem to have. Edna WITHERSPOON (1878-1965)
had one son, Marion Cloyd HUTCHINSON (1913-1986) and I have been in touch with his widow,
Eunice Loraine BLYTHE (1914) for several years. She gave me what little I did have on the
WITHERSPOONS and I have her descendants, if you'd like me to pass them on to you.
I have most, if not all, of the descendants of Nicholas (1821-1889) and Mary Jane BLYTHE TEEL,
if you would like. I also have many of the descendants of another sibling, Maria(h) TEEL
(1819-1858) and Thomas H. MCKEDDY. There were two more sisters of Elizabeth TEEL WITHERSPOON
that I have a limited amount of information on.
Working back, Nicholas TEEL (16 Jun 1761-10 Jan 1821) was born in York PA to Johann Adam DIEL
(yes, they changed the spelling considerably) (Apr 1734 Homberg, Germany-Before 1809 Franklin
Co., VA) and Maria Magdalena BURCHERT (16 Oct 1740 York Co., PA - before 1809 Franklin Co.,
VA). I have these lines worked back several generations in Germany.
We think Nicholas TEEL's wife name was Priscilla (last name unknown).
From 1787-1801 he appears as Nicholas Teel/Teal in Franklin Co., VA, once with a wife Priscilla. He appears in Smith Co., TN, from 1803-1807. In Muhlenberg Co., KY, from 1813-1814 wife wife Martha (Patsy) Pritchett. He is in the 1820 census of Gibson Co., IN, and dies there 10 Jane 1821.
I don't know how much information you have on the TEEL line, or how interested you are, but
I'll be glad to share what I have. I'm 65 years old, retired, live in the southern most part
of the Sierras, at 4500'. I have a retired husband, one living son, and one grandson. I've
been working on genealogy for about 5 years, and am well addicted.
