Notes for John Logan Witherspoon

Notes taken from Grace (Witherspoon) Jones, daughter of William Henry Witherspoon:
John Logan Witherspoon had T.B. It is thought to have been caused by the lack of a decent place to live and of no decent food when he was in Andersonville Prison (during his time in the Civil War). This disease caused his death at a young age, also the deaths of his wife, Catherine, sons Wes and Clarence, and of daughter, Edna.

For furthur research on the Civil War, there is a book, "Coburn's Bridade: 85th Indiana, 33rd Indiana, 19th Michigan, and 22nd Wisconsin in the Western Civil War". Gibson County contributed greatly to the enlistment of the 33rd Indiana, and Co. F was entirely recruited from Gibson County. A web site that list Coburn's Brigade is: http://www.thnet.com/~liggetkw/incw/reading/Coburnsbrig1.htm
