I made some copies of the 1850 census of Gibson Co. and also found Jacksons' Probate papers and copied those also. In the 1850 census it list the household of Jackson D. Weatherspoon, 26 yrs. old, farmer, born in AL. Wife Mary J. 27 yrs. old born TN. Nicklis 7 yrs. old, Isaac 4 yrs. old, Margaret M. 2 yrs. old, John 1 yr. old, George W. 6 mo. old. This was all that was in the household at that time.

Now, I also found where William Weatherspoon age 12 yrs lived with a Nicholis Teal family. I think this is William Teel Witherspoon. I could not find John Logan listed anywhere. I wonder why these two sons were not in the househould with their father in 1850? I will keep digging. Jacksons' probate papers are dated May 24, 1862, so I am trying to get his actual death date. I am convinced he is buried at Blythe Chapel Cemetery and that a marker there that is very difficult to read is Mary Janes'. I have talked to some people at Blythe and the only records are plot maps with no individual names or dates. I hope I can sort out all the Witherspoons' buried at Blythe someday.

The best I can speculate is that he died sometime before May 24, 1862. this is the date on his probate papers from Gibson County. http://community.webtv.net/gregwperfhyd/Witherspoon/

Jackson Dearmon Witherspoon was named after Richard Dearmon who was a neighbor when the family was in Blount County and probably knew each other in Mecklenburg, N.C.
