Notes for William J. Turbyfill

Wed, 26 Aug 1998
From: Dan Troublefield

Patsy's father William Turbyfill, a Revolutionary soldier, moved from the area of Brunswick Co., VA (actually Lunenburg Co.), to Robertson Co., Tennessee, where he applied for a pension in the 1830's. Old William was married two or more times in Virginia. He had a son John Turbyfill, named after William's father John Turbyfill (the planter) alias Troublefield, died 1783 Brunswick Co., VA, and William's brother John Turbyfill, Esq., later of Lincoln Co., NC. William had other children as well, but the documentation for them is not as clear as for children John and Patsy. I am also descended from old John "the planter".

William was a farmer and was also a partner in the firm of Turbiville & Darden.

Dan Troublefield
William stated that he was born 20 Sep 1750 in Charles City Co., VA. William died before 30 Mar 1836 in Robertson Co., TN. He had been a farmer and was also a partner in the firm of Turbiville & Darden. William married twice in Virginia: (1) abt 1774/1777 Brigit (possibly GEE), born between 1750/1757 prob. Lunenburg Co., VA, died after 1781 Lunenburg Co., VA [no estate adm'on for Brigit. Only records of her is not her marriage but when she witnessed a will for Peters Parish, 10 Sep 1777 Lunenburg Co., VA, along with James Gee & Charles Gee. (WB 3/29).
