Later changed his spelling to Cavitt.
Appointed in 1791 to Justice of Peace, Sullivan Co.,Tennessee, by Gov. Blount, Gov. Territory S. of Ohio River.
Lived in Virginia then East Tennessee, then Bolivar, Tenn.

Richard disinherited his children and died the following year at the Madison County, AL, home of a nephew and namesake (eldest son of Moses and Agnes.

His will, probated in September 1819, left the anticipated proceeds of his Sumner County lawsuit to his nephew, Richard Cavitt of Madison county.
