JOSEPH DAWSON BORN IN VIRGINIA ABT 1780, MARRIED RACHEL ROSE. THEY MOVED
TO OHIO SHORTLY AFTER 1800.

According to the "History of Trumbull and Mahoning Counties, 1882" by Williams, Joseph Dawson was the first settler of Mecca Township, Trumbull Co., having moved from Poland Township, Mahoning County, Ohio. He was later followed by his father-in-law, John Rose also from Poland Township. The Rose family became permanent settlers of that area but Dawson moved away a short time later.
